Social Studies Project

Yesterday students were given an oral history project as part of our social studies unit “How Do We Learn About the Past”.

Purpose:  Interview someone who has a personal memory of the past who is at least 50 years old.

Assignment: Using the handout provided, ask the “interviewee” to think back to when they were 10 years old and answer the questions on the handout.

The students were told that it was ok to use jot notes to record the interviewee’s answers.  I did suggest that if they had access to a recording device, they could record the interview and use it to make their notes afterwards.  This was just a suggestion and I do not need to see or hear any of the recordings.

After the interview, students are to complete the Reflection page.  The 3 questions on this page should be answered in sentences and use examples from their interview to help explain their thoughts.

The Reflection page can be completed with pencil or typed on the computer.

The due date is Friday, September 27th.
