Book Club & Homework Jan 5th – 8th

Happy New Year!
We are back in full swing in 5B.  Today we launched our Book Club – Crimes, Clues and Suspects.  Please see the image below for your child’s reading selections each night.  They all have their own schedule and set of expectations in their red duotang, and of course, their novels.  It is crucial that everyone finish their selected reading assignment either in class, or that evening at home.  It is also crucial that students do not read ahead.

Crimes, Clues, and Suspects Book Club

Starting Monday, January 5th, students will be engaged in a Book Club. Each day the students will be given time during class to read the selected reading assignment.   If students have not finished their assigned reading in class, it will be assigned for homework that same night. It is crucial that students do not fall behind, nor read ahead. It is also crucial the students take their novels back to school each day, as we do not have extra copies in the classroom. During Book Club discussions, students are expected to contribute their thoughts and ideas to their group on a daily basis.
Each student is expected to contribute to their Book Club discussions each day based on their assigned reading from the previous day. If a member has not read the selected chapters, or has read ahead, the book club discussion will be compromised. Each student will have a duotang with a personalized calendar, indicating their particular reading assignments.
