Oct. 31 – Nov. 4

Happy Halloween!

I know you will all be busy this evening but I just wanted to send out some important reminders for you to refer to over the coming days:

Please send in your student-led conference times, if you have not already done so.

Students have been provided their Word Work homework for the next two weeks, with three (3) activities due on Friday (one each night, on three different nights).

Students have completed a math assessment on N8 – Describing and representing decimals.  Please expect this journal to come home tomorrow, to be signed and corrected.  We have begun a new outcome, N10 – Compare and order decimals.

Mr. O’Hanley is starting a new reading strategy unit with 5B tomorrow, focusing on inferring.  We are also working on predicting while reading, as well.

In Writer’s Workshop, we are finishing up our recounts and will be looking to write a procedural (how-to) piece, in the coming weeks.

Our current focus in Science is the human body, and the students are continuing to learn about the different body systems.

Important Dates:

  • November 9 – Professional learning day for Charlottetown Rural, Kensington and Kinkora families of schools only – no classes
  • November 11 – Remembrance Day – no classes
  • November 15th & 16th – Student-led conferences in the evening
  • November 18 – Parent Teacher Interviews for kindergarten to Grade 12 – no classes

Have a great week!
