March 27 – April 15

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone was able to enjoy at least some of your children’s March break! They all seem rested and ready to go! 🙂

Just a reminder, I will be away next week and part of the next. Ms. Rebecca Hughes will be in from Monday to Thursday, and Ms. Cindy Reid for the following days. Please contact the office should you need to pass on a message to your child.

Also, next Friday, April 10th is a PD so there is no school.

For homework this week:
– math sheet on PR2 – Solving Equations, due Friday
– comma homework, due Friday
– read at least 20 mins., each night

Book order forms went home today. Orders are due on April 7th.

In Math, we will be working on PR1 which focuses on number patterns. The students seem to be grasping these outcomes nicely and I will be looking for their ability to create word problems using their knowledge of PR2 and PR1.

In Reader’s Workshop, we will begin a new Mystery Unit focusing on narratives. Students will have a Mystery read aloud and be involved in a Mystery Book Club. We will use these texts to help us write our own Mystery stories in Writer’s Workshop over the next few weeks. If you have any mystery novels you liked as a child, feel free to share with your child!

We will begin a new unit in Science: Changes in Matter. Students will learn about solids, liquids, and gases. I will post a few links to some demos you might be interested in doing at home! 😉

Word Work will start back up, next week. Please look for new words to be sorted each evening before each activity. Correct word sorts will be glued in the April 4-10 section of their agenda.

Have a great week!
Meredith
