Your child is coming home with Math homework today. We have completed a review that will identify what areas need some extra practice in. Please have a look at their work from today as today’s review and this week’s homework will support them for their Math test on Friday. If your child is struggling with any of the concepts or procedures, I am available to provide extra support before the test.
We do not work solely from the grade five math textbook, but there are useful lessons and reviews which can help support your child. The following link is an online PDF to the Math Makes Sense 5 text if you should need it in the future.
Math Makes Sense 5
As mentioned at our Meet the Staff night in September, 5B will be holding student-led conferences instead of the traditional parent-teacher interviews. These will take place on the evenings of Tuesday, November 14th and Wednesday, November 15th. Students share the room for 45 minutes with 2 or 3 other families, as they lead their parents/guardians throughout their learning so far this year. Your flexibility with scheduling helps make these conferences a success! I will forward more information within the next week or so but I just wanted to give you a heads up as to when the conferences take place.
Students are asked to donate $1 to the Christmas Craft Fair for the raffle ticket sales table rather than during the annual Spring Fling basket. Your support is very much appreciated.
This morning we started off the week sharing what we are grateful for. I ended off the sharing with what I have been most grateful for over the past few weeks: supportive parents! Whether it’s donating cutlery, a microwave or an exercise ball, to an email stating your understanding and confidence in me, I feel truly blessed to have such support. The demands in the classroom can be challenging at times but you all help make my job easier, and for that, I am very grateful. The children feel it as well. I know with your continued support and efforts at home, the students in 5B will go above and beyond our expectations.
