Just a reminder we are attending the Christmas Variety show at the Confed Centre tomorrow from approx 9:45 – 12:45.
In the classroom, we are continuing to work on Decimals in Math. Students should have a solid understanding of describing and representing decimals, comparing and ordering decimals as well as relating decimals to fractions. Most recently, we are exploring the idea of equivalent fractions that do not have a denominator of 10, 100 or 100. This will help us as we enter into our next outcome, N7: creating sets of equivalent fractions, and comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators.
In Writing, students are working hard to finish their persuasive letter to Santa using the Chatterkids app + iMovie on the iPads. We hope to have their iMovies uploaded to their Drive by next week so you can have them to watch over the holidays.
In Reading, we have started the novel Hiding Edith, using it as a mentor text for the reading strategy, Inferring. This is a wonderful true story of a young Jewish girl who lived through the Nazi regime. I encourage you to ask your child about the details. It is a favourite read, for sure.
We will be having our class party on Thursday, December 21st. Thank you to those of you who have signed up to contribute treats on this day. Some students have asked if they can contribute and that would be appreciated as well. There are no gluten allergies, but of course, no nuts or fish allowed.
